Health Risks Spread by Mice

There are two types of mice in the UK; the house mouse and long tailed field mouse. Both breed prolifically and a small number of mice can soon turn into hundreds if left uncontrolled. Mice, like rats, are known carriers of serious diseases that includes Salmonellas and gastro-enteritis.
These diseases are usually spread through the rodent's urine and faeces and the risk cannot be taken lightly. Mice also are known to pass on parasites including mites, ticks, tapeworm and fleas.
If find tell-tale signs such as droppings, urine stains and gnaw marks you need to contact Pro Serv so that our experienced pest controllers can make your environment safe and free from the risks of mice borne diseases. Mice, despite their size, are also capable of gnawing through all kinds of materials including pipes and cables, so in addition to the health risks they can also cause major damage to electrical installations in domestic and commercial premises.
Pro Serv provides a discreet, low cost solution to effectively rid and control mice and other vermin that may be inhabiting your environment.
Diseases caused by MICE
- Salmonella is one of the most common forms of food poisoning and can be transmitted through food stuffs, especially chicken, that is contaminated with the bacteria. Vermin and pigeons droppings can contain the bacteria and this is passed to humans through contact with droppings. The disease causes vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach cramps in most cases.
- Gastro-enteritis is spread by mice and other vermin and can cause serious diarrhoea and sickness, headaches and fever.
